Prayer in the New Year

Heavenly Father,

As we enter into this new year, we come before You with humble hearts, giving You all the glory, honor, and praise. We give You thanks for Your faithfulness in the past and we trust in Your goodness and mercy for the future.

We confess that we have not always been faithful to You and we ask for Your forgiveness. Help us to grow in our relationship with You and to become more like Jesus.

We ask that You would give us wisdom and guidance as we make plans for the coming year. Help us to set priorities that are in line with Your will for our lives.

We ask for Your protection and provision for our families, friends, and loved ones. We pray for peace and unity in our homes and communities.

We pray for Your Church and for the spread of the gospel. We ask that You would raise up leaders and workers to reach the lost and make disciples.

We pray for our leaders, giving them the wisdom and courage to make decisions that will benefit the common good.

We thank You for Your love and grace, and for the hope that we have in You. We trust in You, Lord, and we know that You are in control.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Prayer in Marriage

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today to give thanks for the love and commitment we share as husband and wife. We ask that You bless our marriage and guide us in Your ways. May the love that brought us together continue to grow stronger, and may Your love be at the center of our union.

We ask that You give us wisdom and strength to love each other selflessly and to always put each other’s needs before our own. We pray for patience and understanding in times of conflict, and for the grace to forgive one another when we fall short.

We pray for Your protection over our marriage and for Your blessings on our family. We ask that You give us children that will be a source of joy and blessings to us, and that we may be good parents, raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

We ask that You bless our finances and provide for our needs and that we may be wise stewards of the resources You give us.

We pray that You will use our marriage as a testimony to Your love and grace and that through our love for each other, others may come to know You and Your love for them.

We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Ephesians 5:25-33 ESV

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
