A Prayer for Work

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with grateful hearts, thanking You for the blessings of another day of work. We ask for Your guidance and wisdom in all that we do, and for the strength to do it to the best of our abilities. Help us to work diligently and with integrity, treating our colleagues and clients with respect and kindness.

We pray for protection on our job, that You would keep us safe from harm and danger. Give us the courage to speak Your truth in the workplace, and to be a light in the midst of darkness.

We ask for Your provision in our work, that You would bless our efforts and provide for all of our needs. Help us to be faithful stewards of the resources You have entrusted to us, and to use them for Your glory.

We also pray for those who are unemployed, that You would open doors of opportunity for them and give them the resources they need to provide for themselves and their families.

We lift up to You all of our friends and family members who are working, that You would bless them and keep them safe.

We give You all the glory and praise, Lord, for the work that You have given us to do. Thank You for the opportunity to serve You in this way.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

Prayer in Marriage

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today to give thanks for the love and commitment we share as husband and wife. We ask that You bless our marriage and guide us in Your ways. May the love that brought us together continue to grow stronger, and may Your love be at the center of our union.

We ask that You give us wisdom and strength to love each other selflessly and to always put each other’s needs before our own. We pray for patience and understanding in times of conflict, and for the grace to forgive one another when we fall short.

We pray for Your protection over our marriage and for Your blessings on our family. We ask that You give us children that will be a source of joy and blessings to us, and that we may be good parents, raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

We ask that You bless our finances and provide for our needs and that we may be wise stewards of the resources You give us.

We pray that You will use our marriage as a testimony to Your love and grace and that through our love for each other, others may come to know You and Your love for them.

We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Ephesians 5:25-33 ESV

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
