This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Mark 8:1-9, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One day, a huge crowd of people had been following Jesus for three days, and they were very hungry. Jesus saw this and felt compassion for them. He told his disciples, “They’ve been with me for three days and haven’t had anything to eat. If I send them away hungry, they might faint on the way home. Some of them have come from far away.”
So Jesus told his disciples to bring him the little bit of food they had, just seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. The disciples were confused and wondered how they could feed so many people with just a few loaves of bread and fish in this desolate place. But Jesus had a plan.
He told everyone to sit down on the ground, and then He gave thanks to God for the food they had. He broke the bread and gave it to his disciples to pass out to the people. He also blessed the small fish and had the disciples share them too.
Amazingly, everyone ate and was completely satisfied! Not only that, but there were seven baskets full of leftovers, even though there were about four thousand people there. Then, Jesus sent the people away.
