This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Luke 17:11-19, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One day, Jesus was traveling between two places called Samaria and Galilee. As he was walking, he entered a village, and there he saw ten people who had a disease called leprosy. These ten people stood far away from Jesus because they knew they were sick, and they didn’t want to make anyone else sick. They cried out to Jesus and said, “Please have mercy on us, Jesus, Master!”
Jesus saw the ten people and told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” The ten people listened to Jesus and started to walk towards the priests. And as they were walking, something amazing happened! They were all healed! All the bumps and sores on their skin went away, and they felt so much better.
But out of the ten people who were healed, only one of them came back to thank Jesus. This man fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, saying thank you and praising God in a loud voice. He was a Samaritan. Jesus noticed that only one person had come back and said thank you, so he said, “Weren’t ten people healed? Where are the other nine? Didn’t they want to come back and say thank you to God?”
Then Jesus said to the one man who came back to say thank you, “Get up and go. Your faith has made you well.”
