This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Mark 7:24-30, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Jesus went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. He didn’t want anyone to know he was there, but people found out anyway. One woman, whose little girl was very sick because of an evil spirit, heard that Jesus was there. She came to him and fell down at his feet, begging him to help her daughter.
This woman was not from the same group of people as Jesus. She was what they called a “Gentile” and a “Syrophoenician.” But that didn’t stop her from believing in Jesus and asking for his help.
At first, Jesus told her, “I should help my own people first. It wouldn’t be right to give their food to the dogs.” But the woman didn’t give up. She told Jesus, “Even dogs get crumbs from under the table.” She had faith that Jesus could help her daughter, and she was right.
Jesus saw how strong her faith was, and he healed her daughter. When the woman went home, she found her daughter sleeping peacefully with the evil spirit gone.
