This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Mark 14:18-26, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One night, Jesus was eating dinner with his disciples.
While they were eating, Jesus said to them, “One of you will betray me.” His disciples became very sad and one by one, they asked Jesus, “Is it me?” Jesus told them that it was one of his twelve disciples who was eating with him and dipping bread into the same dish as him. He said that the Son of Man (which means Jesus himself) would go as it was written, but the person who betrays him will be very sorry. Jesus said it would have been better for that person if they were never born.
While they were still eating, Jesus took some bread, blessed it, and broke it. He gave it to his disciples and said, “Take this, it’s my body.” Then, he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them to drink from. Jesus said, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
After they finished eating, they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
