This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Ezekiel 1, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One day, when Ezekiel was living far from his home in a place called Babylon, he saw an amazing thing. It was the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, and he was with some other people by a river. Suddenly, the sky opened up, and Ezekiel saw visions of God. On that same day, God spoke to Ezekiel, who was a priest, and gave him a message to share with the people.
Ezekiel saw a great stormy wind and a bright fire that looked like shiny metal. He also saw four creatures that looked like humans with four faces and four wings each. These creatures had the face of a lion, an ox, an eagle, and a human. They also had hands under their wings. They moved forward without turning and sparkled like bronze.
Ezekiel also saw four wheels that looked like they were made of beryl, and they were very tall with eyes all around them. These wheels moved along with the creatures, and wherever the creatures went, the wheels went too. Above the creatures was an expanse that looked like shining crystal, and it had wings stretched out. It sounded like a loud army of water when they moved.
Above the expanse, there was a throne, and a person was sitting on it. He looked like a human, and he was surrounded by fire and bright lights. He looked so glorious that Ezekiel fell on his face.
