This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in 1 Kings 9:1-9, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once upon a time, there was a king named Solomon was the son of King David. was also a very important king in Israel’s history. Solomon became king after his father died and he was known for being very wise. People from all over the world would come to him to hear his wisdom and advice.
Once Solomon became king, he decided to build a special house for God. After the house was finished, God appeared to Solomon for the second time, just like before.
God said to Solomon that He heard his prayer and that the house Solomon built was holy and special forever. God promised to always be watching over the house, and if Solomon followed God’s rules and stayed true to Him, his family would always be in charge of Israel.
But, if Solomon or his children stopped following God and started worshipping other gods, then bad things would happen. God would take away the land He gave them and the special house Solomon built would become ruined. People would be shocked and wonder why this happened. They would say that the Israelites stopped following God and worshipped other gods. That’s why God punished them.
