This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in 1 Kings 3:1-15, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once upon a time, there was a man named Solomon. Solomon was the son of King David and became the king of Israel after him. He loved God very much and wanted to be a good king for God’s people.
One night, God appeared to Solomon in a dream and said, “Ask me for anything, and I will give it to you.” Instead of asking for lots of money or power or to live forever, Solomon asked God for something very special. He asked for wisdom, so that he could be a good and fair king and know how to make good decisions for his people.
God was very happy with Solomon’s request and said, “Because you asked for wisdom, I will give it to you. I will also give you more riches and honor than any other king, as long as you follow my ways like your father David did.” And God kept His promise. Solomon became the wisest king who ever lived, and he was very rich and famous too.
After his dream, Solomon went to Jerusalem and gave thanks to God with a big feast. He knew that God had given him the wisdom he needed to be a good king, and he was very grateful.
