This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Luke 10:38-42, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once upon a time, Jesus went to visit a village and was invited to Martha’s house. Martha had a sister named Mary, who sat next to Jesus and listened to His teachings. Martha, on the other hand, was busy serving and preparing food for everyone.
After a while, Martha became overwhelmed and upset that Mary wasn’t helping her. She went up to Jesus and said, “Lord, why isn’t Mary helping me? Can’t you tell her to come and help me?”
But Jesus said to Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is important. Mary has chosen to listen to my teachings, and that is what matters most.”
From that day on, Martha realized that spending time with Jesus and listening to His teachings was more important than anything else. She sat down with Mary and listened to Jesus too.
Biblical Lessons
- It’s important to spend time with Jesus and listen to His teachings.
- We shouldn’t be too busy with serving or other things that we forget to listen to Jesus.
- We should be kind and patient with others, even when we feel overwhelmed.
