A Sinful Woman Forgiven – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Luke 7:36-50, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

One day, Jesus went to a Pharisee’s house to eat with him. While they were eating, a woman from the city, who was a sinner, heard that Jesus was there. She came to Jesus with a jar of special oil and stood behind him, crying so much that her tears fell on Jesus’ feet. She wiped his feet with her hair, kissed them, and put the special oil on them.

The Pharisee who invited Jesus to eat with him saw what the woman was doing and thought, “If Jesus knew what kind of woman this is, he wouldn’t let her touch him.” But Jesus knew what he was thinking and said to him, “Simon, let me tell you something.” Simon said, “Sure, what is it?”

Jesus told him a story about two people who owed money to someone. One owed a lot of money and the other owed a little bit of money. But they both couldn’t pay the money they owed, so the moneylender forgave both of their debts. Jesus asked Simon, “Which one do you think loved the moneylender more?” Simon answered, “I think the one who owed more money loved him more.” Jesus said, “You are right.”

Then Jesus turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I came into your house, you didn’t give me any water to wash my feet. But she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. You didn’t welcome me with a kiss, but she has been kissing my feet since I came in. You didn’t put any oil on my head, but she has put perfume on my feet. So, I tell you that her many sins are forgiven because she loved me so much. But the person who has only a little bit of sin forgiven will only love a little bit.”

Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.” Everyone at the table wondered who Jesus was to forgive sins. Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

Biblical Lessons

Jesus is the only one who can forgive our sins and give us peace.
Jesus knows what we are thinking and feeling, even when we don’t say anything.
Jesus welcomes everyone who comes to Him in faith and repentance, regardless of their background or social status.
