This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Mark 12:18-27, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once, a group of people called the Sadducees came to Jesus. They didn’t believe that people could come back to life after they died.
They asked Jesus a tricky question. They said, “Moses wrote a law that says if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man should take the widow and have children with her so his brother’s family line can continue. There were seven brothers, and they all married the same woman, but none of them had children before they died. When they all come back to life, whose wife will she be?”
Jesus told them that they didn’t understand the Scriptures or the power of God. He explained that when people come back to life, they don’t get married again, but they are like angels in heaven.
Jesus also reminded them of a story in the Bible about a bush, where God spoke to Moses and said, “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Jesus explained that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. So, even though Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died a long time ago, they were still alive with God.
