Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Mark 14:43-50, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

Jesus was talking to His friends, called disciples, when one of them named Judas came with a group of people holding swords and clubs. Judas had made a plan with the group leaders to give Jesus a kiss, so they would know who to arrest. And that’s just what Judas did. He went up to Jesus, called Him, “Rabbi!”, then kissed Him on the cheek. Then the group grabbed Jesus and took Him away.

One of Jesus’ disciples got very upset and tried to protect Jesus by using his sword to cut off a servant’s ear. But Jesus told him to stop and healed the man’s ear. Jesus asked the group, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But let the Scriptures be fulfilled.”

Jesus knew that this was all part of God’s plan. After Jesus was arrested, all his disciples got scared and ran away. But Jesus knew what was going to happen and he was ready for it.

Biblical Lessons

Betrayal and injustice can be painful, but we should trust in God’s plan and sovereignty.
Violence is not the answer to our problems, and we should strive to follow Jesus’ example of peace and love.
Even in our darkest moments, we can find comfort and strength in prayer and trust in God.
Jesus’ sacrifice and suffering show us the depth of God’s love for us and the lengths he is willing to go to save us from sin and death.
Following Jesus requires courage and faith, and we should be willing to stand up for what is right, even when it’s difficult.
