The Wedding at Cana – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in John 2:1-11, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

One day, Jesus with His disciples were invited to a wedding in a place called Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was also there. The wedding was going great until they ran out of wine! Jesus’ mother told him about the problem, but Jesus thought it wasn’t His time to do anything yet. But His mother knew that Jesus could do something about it, so she told the servants to do whatever Jesus said.

There were six big jars used for cleaning things that were used in Jewish ceremonies. Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water, and then he told them to take some to the man who was in charge of the party. The person in charge of the party tasted the water that had turned into wine, but he didn’t know where it came from. The servants who had poured the water knew what had happened, though.

When the man tasted the water, it had turned into wine! He was surprised because it was really good wine. Then the master of the feast called the bridegroom and told him that people drink the good wine first, and then when they’re already a little bit drunk, they drink the not-so-good wine. But this wine was the best one!

This was the very first amazing thing that Jesus did in public, and His disciples who saw it knew that he was special and believed in him.
