The Coming of the Holy Spirit – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Acts 2:1-13, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

A group of people who followed Jesus were together in a house. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise that sounded like a big gust of wind coming from the sky! It was so loud that it filled the whole house. Then, little flames that looked like tongues of fire appeared on each person’s head!

These people were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they started to talk in languages they had never spoken before! At that time, there were many other people in Jerusalem from different countries who had come to celebrate the special holiday called Pentecost.

When they heard the noises, they were so surprised and confused! But then, they realized something amazing was happening – they could understand what the people who were filled with the Holy Spirit were saying, even though they were speaking different languages!

The people from different countries were amazed and astonished. They said, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language?” The people from Parthia, Media, Elam, Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, Libya, Rome, Crete, and Arabia were all there, and they could understand what the followers of Jesus were saying in their own languages! They heard them telling about the mighty works of God.

The people were so happy to hear about God’s power and love in their own language. But some people didn’t believe what they were hearing, and they made fun of the people who were speaking in other languages. They thought they were just drunk.

But it wasn’t true! The people were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they were telling everyone about God’s love in their own languages.

God’s power and love can be understood by people from all over the world, no matter what language they speak.
The Holy Spirit gives us power to share the good news of Jesus with others.
When we share the gospel with others, it should be done in a way that they can understand.
The diversity of languages and cultures is a reflection of God’s creativity and should be celebrated.
