This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Mark 4:35-41, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One night, Jesus and his disciples went on a boat ride. There were other boats with them too.
While they were sailing, a big storm started, and the wind was so strong that the waves were coming into the boat. The boat was starting to fill up with water.
Meanwhile, Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat on a cushion. His disciples woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to die?” Jesus woke up and told the wind and the sea to be quiet. Immediately, the wind stopped blowing, and the sea became very calm.
Jesus said to his friends, “Why are you so scared? Do you still have no faith?” His friends were amazed and asked each other, “Who is this man that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Biblical Lessons
- Even when we face difficulties and storms in life, we can trust in Jesus to calm our fears and provide us with peace.
- Sometimes we may feel like Jesus is not paying attention to our problems, but he is always with us and ready to help us when we call on him.
- The story shows that Jesus is more than just a great teacher or prophet; he is God himself, who has power over everything in nature.
- The disciples’ reaction to the storm shows that even those who have faith in Jesus can sometimes doubt or become afraid. However, Jesus patiently reminds them of his power and encourages them to trust in him.
