The Valley of Dry Bones – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Ezekiel 37:1-14, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

Once upon a time, a man named Ezekiel was taken by the Lord to a valley full of bones. The bones were dry and there were so many of them. The Lord asked Ezekiel if the bones could come to life, but Ezekiel didn’t know. Then the Lord told Ezekiel to speak to the bones and say that the Lord would make them live again. The Lord said He would cover the bones with flesh and skin and put breath into them.

So Ezekiel spoke to the bones as he was told, and he heard a sound. The bones started to come together, bone to bone. The flesh and skin grew back, but they still didn’t have breath. Then the Lord told Ezekiel to speak to the breath and say that the Lord would bring it from the four winds to give the bones life. So Ezekiel spoke to the breath and it came to the bones, and they stood up, an army of many people.

The Lord told Ezekiel that the bones represented the people of Israel. They felt hopeless and cut off from the Lord. But the Lord promised to bring them back to life, to open their graves and bring them to their own land. The Lord would put His Spirit in them and they would live. And when it happened, the people would know that the Lord had done it.

The Lord cares for His people and can bring hope to the hopeless.
The Lord’s promises always come true.
The Lord can restore hope and life to situations that seem beyond repair or dead.
