This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Numbers 20:22-29, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
A long, long time ago, the people of Israel were traveling to a place called Mount Hor. When they got there, God spoke to Moses and Aaron, who was his brother. God told them that Aaron was going to die soon and that he wouldn’t be able to enter the land that God had promised to them. This was because Aaron and Moses had not done exactly what God had asked them to do before at the waters of Meribah.
So, God told Moses to take Aaron and his son Eleazar up to the top of the mountain. There, they took off Aaron’s clothes and put them on Eleazar. After that, Aaron passed away and joined his ancestors. Moses and Eleazar came down the mountain and the whole community saw that Aaron had died. They were very sad and cried for thirty days.
