This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Job 38-40:2, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once there was a man named Job who loved and obeyed God. One day, Job experienced great suffering and loss, and he began to question why God allowed these things to happen. He asked many questions and expressed his frustration to his friends.
Then, the Lord answered Job out of a whirlwind, and said, “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?” The Lord then challenged Job by asking him many questions that showed how powerful and wise God is. He asked Job if he was there when God created the world, if he could control the sea or the weather, and if he could take care of all the animals that God made.
The Lord reminded Job that He is in control of everything, and that His ways are higher than our ways. He said that Job should trust in Him, even when things are hard to understand.
Job listened to the Lord’s questions and was amazed by His wisdom and power. He realized that he did not have all the answers, and that he needed to trust God even when he couldn’t understand what was happening.
Then, the Lord rebuked Job’s friends for not speaking rightly about Him. The Lord told them to offer a burnt offering and have Job pray for them, so that the Lord would not deal with them according to their folly.
Job’s friends listened to the Lord, and they went to offer the burnt offering and ask Job to pray for them. And the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.
