This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Genesis 9:1-17, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
After the flood had subsided, God spoke to Noah and his sons and made a covenant with them. A covenant is a special promise or agreement between two parties.
God told Noah and his family to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. He gave them permission to eat every living thing, but not the blood of the animals. God said that whoever kills a person, their own life would be taken as punishment.
God also promised that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood. To show that He would keep this promise, God placed a rainbow in the sky. The rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant with Noah and with all living creatures on the earth.
Whenever we see a rainbow, we can remember that God keeps His promises.
