Noah and the Flood – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Genesis 6-8, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

A long time ago, people started to have more and more children, and God saw that people were not being good. They were making bad choices and hurting each other. This made God very sad, and He decided to start over by sending a big flood to cover the Earth. But there was one man named Noah who was good and loved God.

God chose Noah he always did what God said. God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark.

God told Noah, “I’m going to send a huge flood, but I want to save you and your family because you’re good people. I want you to build a big boat called an ark. It should be very large, with lots of rooms inside. You will bring your wife, your three sons, and their wives into the ark with you.”

God also told Noah to bring two of every kind of animal into the ark, bird, and creepy crawler, one male and one female. He wanted them to be safe too, so they could have babies and fill the Earth again after the flood was over. God told Noah to bring food for everyone in the ark, so they would have enough to eat.

Noah listened to God and did everything He asked. He built the ark and brought his wife, his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their wives all went on the ark with the animals. Then, God made it rain for forty days and forty nights. The Earth was covered in water, and the ark floated on top. The water stayed high for 150 days.

After the flood, the water started to go down, and the ark landed on a mountain. Noah sent out a raven and a dove to see if the land was dry. The dove came back with an olive leaf, which meant that the land was getting dry again. Noah waited a little longer and sent the dove out one more time. This time, the dove didn’t come back, so Noah knew it was safe to leave the ark.

God told Noah and his family to come out of the ark and let all the animals go. He wanted them to fill the Earth again and have many children. Then, Noah built an altar to thank God, and God made a promise. He said that He would never again send a flood to destroy the Earth. To show this promise, God put a rainbow in the sky.

Every time we see a rainbow, we can remember God’s promise to never send another flood like the one in Noah’s time.
