This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Luke 2:8-21, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One night, there were some shepherds who were taking care of their sheep. Suddenly, an angel appeared before them and it was so bright that it made them very scared.
But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid! I have good news for all people. Today, a Savior has been born in the city of David, and He is Christ the Lord! You will find Him wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
Then, a bunch of other angels joined the first angel and together they praised God, saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!”
When the angels left, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see what has happened, just like the Lord has told us!” So they went quickly and found the baby Jesus lying in a manger with Mary and Joseph.
The shepherds were amazed and told everyone about what they had seen and heard. Everyone who heard it was amazed too! But Mary kept all of these things in her heart and thought about them. When the shepherds went back to their sheep, they praised and thanked God for everything they had seen and heard.
After eight days, the baby was circumcised and given the name Jesus, just like the angel had told Mary and Joseph.
