This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Matthew 7:24-27, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
A long time ago, Jesus told a story about two men who built houses. One man built his house on a big, strong rock, and the other man built his house on soft, loose sand.
One day, a big storm came with lots of rain, wind, and even floods. The storm was so strong that it hit both houses. But the man who built his house on the rock was safe because his house was strong and sturdy. However, the man who built his house on the sand was not so lucky. His house was not strong enough, and it fell down during the storm.
Jesus was teaching us an important lesson with this story. He wants us to listen to His words and obey them like the wise man who built his house on the rock. We should be careful not to ignore what Jesus says, or we might end up like the foolish man who built his house on the sand.
Biblical Lessons
- The foundation of our lives is important because it determines how we handle difficulties and challenges.
- Jesus wants us to build our lives on His teachings because they are the best foundation we can have.
- Building our lives on anything else, like money or popularity, is like building on sand and can lead to a fall.
- Even when things are going well, we should still listen to Jesus and follow His teachings.
- Listening to Jesus is not enough on its own – we also need to obey His teachings to build a strong foundation.
