This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Acts 28:1-10, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once, there was a man named Paul who was traveling on a ship. But one day, the ship crashed onto an island called Malta. Luckily, the people there were very kind and welcomed them. It was starting to get cold, so they made a fire to keep warm. While Paul was getting some sticks for the fire, a snake bit him!
When the people who lived on the island saw the snake hanging from Paul’s hand, they whispered to each other, “This man must have done something very bad. Even though he survived the shipwreck, something bad is going to happen to him because of what he’s done.”
But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and he wasn’t hurt at all! The people were surprised and thought he must have been a god because nothing bad happened to him.
Nearby, there were lands that belonged to a very important man on the island named Publius. He was so kind that he welcomed Paul and his friends into his home and took care of them for three days.
One day, Publius’s father got really sick with a fever and an upset stomach. But Paul went to visit him and prayed for him. Then, Paul put his hands on him, and he was completely healed!
After this happened, everyone on the island who was sick came to Paul and he healed them too! The people were so grateful that they showed Paul and his friends a lot of respect.
When it was time for Paul and his friends to leave the island, the people gave them everything they needed for their journey.
