This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Leviticus 23:1-22, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
One day, God spoke to Moses and told him to share these important events with the people of Israel.
The first feast that God told them about was called the Sabbath. God said that people could work for six days, but on the seventh day, they should rest and have a holy time with Him. This day was very important, and they should not do any work on this day.
The next feast that God told them about was called the Passover. It happened in the first month of the year, on the fourteenth day. They had to eat unleavened bread for seven days and offer food to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day, they had another holy time with God.
God also told them about the Feast of Firstfruits. He said that when they harvested their crops, they had to bring the firstfruits to the priest to be offered to God. The priest would wave it before the Lord as an offering of thanks, and they could not eat any bread or grain until this was done.
Lastly, God talked about the Feast of Weeks. They had to count seven full weeks and then present a new grain offering to the Lord. They would bring two loaves of bread made with leaven to be waved to the Lord as an offering. They would also offer a bull, two rams, and seven lambs. They would have a sin offering and a sacrifice of peace offerings, and the priest would wave them before the Lord with the two loaves.
God also told them that when they harvested their land, they should not take everything. They had to leave some behind for the poor and sojourners.
