Jacob Meets Esau – Bible Story for Kids

This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Genesis 33, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.

Once there was a man named Jacob who had a twin brother named Esau. They hadn’t seen each other in a very long time, and Jacob was afraid that Esau was still mad at him because Jacob had tricked him out of their father’s blessing. Jacob heard that Esau was coming to meet him with 400 men, so he put his family in order, with the servants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph at the back. Jacob went ahead of them and bowed down to the ground seven times when he got close to Esau.

When Esau saw Jacob, he ran to him and hugged him and kissed him and they both cried. Esau asked Jacob who all the people with him were, and Jacob said they were his family and servants that God had given him. Esau was happy to see Jacob and his family and asked Jacob what all the animals were for. Jacob said they were a gift for Esau to show his gratitude. Esau said he already had enough and didn’t need anything, but Jacob insisted and said that seeing Esau was like seeing the face of God.

After that, Esau and Jacob decided to go their separate ways, and Jacob’s family was too tired to travel fast, so Jacob let Esau go ahead of them. Esau offered to leave some of his men to help Jacob, but Jacob refused and said he wanted to find favor in Esau’s sight. Jacob eventually made it safely to the city of Shechem, where he bought a piece of land and built an altar to God.
