Joseph's Brothers Return to Egypt – Bible Story for Kids

Once upon a time, there was a man named Joseph who lived in Egypt. Joseph had many brothers who lived far away from him. Joseph’s brothers didn’t like him because he was their father’s favorite son. They were so jealous that they sold Joseph into slavery and told their father that he had died.

Many years passed, and Joseph became very powerful in Egypt. One day, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt to buy food because there was a famine in their land. When they came to Joseph, they didn’t recognize him because he looked very different from when they last saw him. But Joseph recognized his brothers and he decided to play a trick on them.

Joseph told his brothers that they couldn’t come back to Egypt unless they brought their youngest brother, Benjamin. Joseph’s brothers didn’t want to leave Benjamin behind, but their father didn’t want to let him go. Eventually, the brothers convinced their father to let Benjamin go with them.

One of Joseph’s brothers, Judah, offered to take responsibility for Benjamin’s safety. He said to his father, “I will be a pledge of his safety. From my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever.” After hearing this, their father agreed to let Benjamin go with them to Egypt.

When Joseph’s brothers arrived in Egypt with Benjamin, Joseph asked them about their father and the rest of their family. He was especially interested in knowing if his father, Jacob, was still alive. Joseph also tested his brothers to see if they had changed since they sold him into slavery. He wanted to make sure that they were truly sorry for what they had done to him.

He invited them to his house to eat and gave them the best food and drink that Egypt had to offer. Joseph sat his brothers at the table according to their birth order, with the eldest brother getting the most important seat. He also gave Benjamin a special portion of food that was much larger than everyone else’s. Joseph wanted to show his brothers that he still cared for them, even though they had treated him so badly in the past.

In the end, Joseph’s brothers realized that they had done something wrong and asked for his forgiveness. Joseph was happy to forgive them and to be reunited with his family. He realized that God had a plan for his life, even though he had gone through many difficult times.

Biblical Lessons

Forgiveness is a powerful thing. Even if someone hurts us very badly, we can choose to forgive them and move on.
God is always watching over us and providing for us, even when times are tough.
