This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in Deuteronomy 34, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Moses was a very important man who lived a very long time ago. He loved God very much and did many great things for Him. One day, God told Moses to go up a big mountain called Mount Nebo. From the top of the mountain, God showed Moses all the land that He promised to give to His people, the Israelites. It was a beautiful land full of many different places.
But, God also said something sad to Moses. He said that even though Moses could see the land, he would not be able to go there. Instead, Moses would die in a place called Moab. Moses was okay with this because he knew that God had a plan for everything.
So, Moses died when he was 120 years old. He was still very strong and healthy even though he was so old! God buried him in a secret place that nobody knows about to this day. The people of Israel were very sad and cried for Moses for a whole month.
After Moses died, a man named Joshua became the leader of the Israelites. Joshua was very wise and strong because Moses had put his hands on him and asked God to bless him. Joshua did a great job leading the people and making sure they followed God’s commands.
Since then, there hasn’t been another prophet in Israel like Moses, who the Lord knew face to face. No one else has been able to do all the signs and wonders that the Lord sent him to do in Egypt, for Pharaoh, all of his servants, and all of Egypt, as well as all the big scary things that Moses did in front of all of Israel.
Even though Moses is gone, we can still learn many things from him and his relationship with God.
