This is a simplified version of the Bible story found in 2 Samuel 2:1-7, written for children to understand. For the original version, please refer to the Bible passage.
Once upon a time, there was a man named David. David loved God very much, and he always asked God for guidance. One day, David asked God if he should go to one of the cities in Judah. God told him to go to a city called Hebron. So David and his two wives, Ahinoam and Abigail, went to Hebron.
David brought his men and their families with him, and they all lived in Hebron. The people of Judah came to see David, and they made him their king!
Later, David heard that some men had buried Saul, the previous king, even though they knew it was very dangerous. David wanted to thank those men and show them kindness. So he sent them a message saying, “Thank you for being loyal to Saul and burying him. May God bless you! I will do good things for you because of your kindness. Be brave and strong, even though Saul is gone and I am your new king.”
And that’s the story of how David became the king of Judah!
